The company FMP Technology GmbH – a corporate spin-off of the University of Erlangen – has developed two innovative application systems for pretreatment, dyeing, impregnation, finishing and coating of textiles, non-woven fabrics but also fibres, yarns as well as multifilaments. The pre-metered coating techniques allow liquors to be applied with an accuracy of up to ± 1percent, irrespective of their viscosity, the layer thickness and the production velocity. It is not necessary to subsequently apply squeezing or knife-edge methods. Some of the advantages associated therewith are as follows: a homogenous layer thickness, no unwanted compression of the textile, no contamination of the finishing by fluid flowing back as well as saving of liquor remainders, liquor chemicals and energy costs in the drying process. It is possible to manufacture both water-based, solvent-based, pigmented and reactive fluids as well as UV systems, resins, hotmelts, etc.
