Bringing drinkable water in arid areas with the „third dimension“

To provide all people with drinkable water is one of the major challenges of the future. The Institut für Textil- und Verfahrenstechnik Denkendorf has developed a high performance textile that extracts water from air.

It has recently appeared on the market as a „fog collector“. What desert bugs, the Canary pine and desert grasses have successfully been applying for thousands of years has been transferred into technology. The 3D textile fabric „FogHa-TiN“ reaches up to 66 liters of water/m² textile a day. It weathers wind velocities of up to 120/kmh and even extremely high sun radiation cannot harm the spacer fabrics.
