Carrington Textiles Middle East is founded
Carrington wants to grow in the Middle East market with new flame-resistant fabrics.
Carrington is well known in the Middle East, predominantly in the defence sector where longstanding contracts with the Royal Oman Police and militaries such as the Bahrain Army have established. Recently, Carrington has identified an area of potential growth, with demand for durable fabrics, that are both comfortable and UV resistant.
The demand for technical fabrics in the Middle Eastern’s oil and gas and utilities industries has been steadily growing in recent years. This has encouraged Carrington to develop the business in this region; broadening the horizons beyond Europe. Over the last six months, Carrington has embarked upon a joint venture with a local distributor in the United Arab Emirates. This partnership will allow Carrington to enhance its current distribution capabilities, working with an on-the-ground partner to satisfy customer needs faster.
From the warehouse in Sharjah, near Dubai, Carrington aims to serve the 6 GCC countries which are the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
With 150,000 metres currently in stock, Carrington focuses offering on fabrics such as lightweight comfortable and durable Teredo, as well as more technical fabrics with advanced comfort and durability, such as Flametuff 250 AS, which has recently been re-engineered to meet the American NFPA 2112 standard.
Export Sales Executive, Richard Cumpstey:
“In a market dominated by synthetic flame-resistant fabrics (which are normally branded as inherent), we have had to take a strategic targeted approach to develop new sales. We believe our natural fibre solutions offer increased performance in terms of comfort, durability and resistance to UV exposure whilst offering the wearer unquestionable flame-resistant performance. We recently secured a contract to supply Arabian Drilling Company, upgrading their worker’s standard 100 percent cotton uniforms to Flameshield 230, providing them with protection against heat and flame.”
