Four pillars for a shifting market

From 25-27 August 2026, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics - Autumn Edition returns to the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai as a global sourcing hub for apparel textiles. The organisers frame the fair around four themes that reflect some of the industry's most compelling opportunities.

Fashion Forward addresses design direction with curated fabric presentations and the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, giving product teams an early read on upcoming seasonal narratives. Performance Textiles gathers functional fabrics for sportswear, outdoor and lifestyle applications, reflecting steady demand for comfort, durability and technical enhancement.

Under Sustainability, the Econogy Hub concentrates certifications, eco-conscious materials and related solutions in one place, simplifying comparison of standards and product claims. Textile Future then turns the spotlight on smart textiles, AI-driven design tools and next-generation manufacturing technologies that are reshaping how collections are developed and produced.

Functional Lab: climate-adaptive and silver-age focus

The expanded Functional Lab links a high-visibility display area, The CUBE, with exhibitor booths and a seminar programme to encourage deeper technical exchange. New in 2026, a Product Presentation Series inside The CUBE gives suppliers a structured format to explain the performance profile of selected fabrics and accessories.

Content-wise, the zone widens its brief. Climate-adaptive textiles aimed at temperature and humidity regulation are a clear focus, alongside products for so-called silver-age applications. Here, the emphasis lies on comfort, ease of care, low weight and everyday practicality for ageing consumer groups.

Pet textiles as an emerging niche

With the Pet Boutique, first tested in spring and now expanded for the autumn edition, the organisers are formalising a still-young segment. The dedicated area clusters suppliers of materials for pet clothing, accessories and related items at a single touchpoint. Against the backdrop of a pet textile market forecast to grow by 5.6 percent annually up to 2031, with Asia-Pacific expected to record the highest growth, the format offers an entry point for buyers assessing this niche within the wider apparel ecosystem.

The fair runs alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC and PH Value, meaning visitors can source across much of the apparel textile value chain on one site.
