Logwin has been awarded the contract from its long-standing customer C&A for continued, long-term cooperation in the area of logistics. It simultaneously marked the start of construction on a new facility that fulfils the logistics requirements for the fashion retail chain. Construction has been going on in the Regiopark in Mönchengladbach, Germany, since January – in a convenient location right next to the expressway.

A hall of 21,000 square metres is currently being built on a premises of 65,000 square metres; operations at the Regiopark in Mönchengladbach-Güdderath are expected to start in early July. As a first step, Logwin will shift flat-packed capacities to the new facility; hanging goods will be added after the next expansion stage. Logwin will be distributing hanging goods from Mönchengladbach-Wickrath and flat-packed goods from nearby Schwalmtal-Waldniel until the new facility is completed.

Logwin has been handling wide-ranging logistics services for C&A for more than 50 years. The main focus is on cross-docking for international distribution: “Deliveries from around the world come together here,” says Manfred Schneider, Branch Manager Mönchengladbach. “We accept the deliveries, bundle them for the various destinations in Europe, and ship them out to recipients in Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.” There will be 78 loading bays at the new facility for the quick transhipment of incoming and outgoing goods. Logwin coordinates the entire Europe-wide distribution of all C&A fashion products excepting those destined for the market of the country of origin.

The transhipment volumes for C&A are high: “We wouldn’t have been able to fulfil our customer’s desire for growth at our Schwalmtal-Waldniel location,” says Dirk Ewers, Managing Director of Logwin Solutions Network. “We’re pleased to be able to offer an optimal solution with property developer Goodman and our warehousing logistics partner Vetten.”
