With topics such as recycling, digital traceability, and ecodesign, the event promotes solutions for more sustainable handling of textile materials.

According to the European Commission, around 12.6 million tonnes of textile waste were generated in Europe in 2019, of which only about one-fifth was separately collected. The EU responded with new regulations such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), the Digital Product Passport, and new ecodesign requirements. Against this backdrop, the new Textile exhibition area at Ecomondo is establishing itself as an international meeting point for the circular economy in the textile industry. The area is part of the trade fair organized by the Italian Exhibition Group from November 3 – 6 at the Rimini exhibition center and has its own exhibition hall.

The Textile area covers the entire value chain – from the ecodesign of yarns, fabrics, clothing, and accessories to the collection, sorting, reuse, and recycling of textiles from pre- and post-consumer phases. The focus is also on technologies for material traceability, fiber-to-fiber recycling, and digital solutions for monitoring products throughout their entire lifecycle.

In addition, solutions for textile waste recovery, modern fiber sorting systems, and technologies for recovering secondary raw materials will be presented to promote innovation along the entire value chain. The goal is to create an ecosystem that connects manufacturing industry, recycling, research, and services, fostering synergies between the various players in the industry to accelerate the adoption of circular business models.

Conferences, symposia, and workshops also play a central role, developed with the support of the Ecomondo Textile Working Group. This emerged as a spin-off from the Technical-Scientific Committee and brings together representatives from the textile industry as well as associations and institutions.
