Rudolf presents bio-based functional finishes

The rising demand for sustainable and high-performance technical textiles continues to shape development priorities. At Techtextil 2026, Rudolf will present a set of functional finishes designed to support both durability and responsible material choices.

Soil-release performance for cellulose-based textiles

One focus is Feran SRC, a finish engineered for cellulose fibres and their blends. It forms a long-lasting protective layer that makes oil-, grease- and pigment-based stains easier to remove. The hydrophilic surface remains intact, and the handle of the fabric is not affected. For manufacturers working with textiles that undergo frequent cleaning cycles, this combination of stability and surface performance is a clear advantage.

Thermal functionality with a bio-based profile

With Ruco-therm PCM Bio MFT, Rudolf introduces a bio-based approach to thermal management. The finish supports effective climate regulation by balancing heat and moisture. This opens pathways for textile concepts that combine thermal performance with a more considered material selection, particularly in applications where functional integrity and sustainability must be aligned.

Catalytic mechanism for long-lasting activity

A further innovation is Ruco-bac Rox, developed together with Heraeus Precious Metals. Unlike classical biocidal systems, the finish uses a catalytic process that transforms oxygen into reactive oxygen species. These target odour-causing microorganisms and oxidise residues on the textile surface. Because the mechanism is based on a cyclic redox system, it regenerates continuously and remains active over time. For producers requiring reliable and durable functionality in technical textiles, this stability is a critical factor.

Improved processing in sewing and knitting

To support reliable manufacturing, Rudolf adds Ruco-lub BMN to its portfolio. This biodegradable sewing aid reduces friction, smooths surfaces and minimises the risk of stitch damage or runs in woven and knitted fabrics. At the same time, it helps maintain tear strength and contributes to a soft, even handle.

Techtextil as an industry meeting point

Rudolf will showcase all finishes at Techtextil 2026 in Hall 9.0, booth E40. The trade fair setting allows development and production teams to examine the solutions in detail and explore how they may support future technical textile applications.
