Automarker: Efficient placement reduces material costs

350 companies use the piece placement service in the Fashion Cloud, placing around 20,000 markers in the Automarker.com portal every day. With Automarker, you can automatically place even complex fabrics and patterns. Here are the new features that will give you even more efficiency:

Automarker, the on-demand service by Assyst for structured placement and data conversion is now even more efficient thanks to new features. Material is the biggest cost factor in apparel production, so less material means huge savings for apparel manufacturers and suppliers.

“Dynamic Gap” lets you configure gaps in such a way that they will only be considered if quality standards require it. Congruent contours are placed with no gaps to increase efficiency. To ensure better material utilization, Automarker calculates the gaps between pattern pieces, depending on the quality requirements; quality-relevant areas such as armholes, necklines and armpit sockets are placed at distance. The “Dynamic Fusing Block” fuses several pattern pieces with interlining material and this can be combined into a fusing block in the marker to make further processing more cost-effective. Automarker now also avoids color variations in vertical and horizontal gradients in the outer fabric.

Sizing & fitting – just like that

Automarker now meets all the requirements of the special marker for the needle table. The fabric layers of plaid and stripe materials must be placed very precisely. A needle table avoids unnecessary blocking in the marker, but it requires a high level of expertise. This expert knowledge is transferred to the laying profile and can be called up for every marker or for every new production order. Material savings compared to working without a needle table amount to between 3% and 7%. Compared to manual operation (with or without a needle table marker) the time savings are hugely impressive, since all markers are calculated in parallel. A production order with 15 to 20 markers, for example, can be processed after roughly 20 minutes.

There’s even a new solution for crotch gusset separation – the separation of crotch gussets in menswear back pants or in workwear can also be performed automatically in Automarker from 2012. Decisions are based on higher material utilization.

Tubular fabrics

The markers for the processing of tubular materials (especially in the underwear industry), can be prepared in such a way that symmetrical pieces can either be placed on one of the broken edges, or openly placed as a “half-piece” group in the fabric width. Automarker.com supports this variable nesting of pattern pieces and decides autonomously which variant will score a higher level of savings. The CAD data only has to be prepared as a “Variable Style” (available as a function in Cad.Assyst from Version 20.13). www.human-solutions.com
