Working “for a healthier world”, start-up firm Blue Maou specialises in sustainable, fair-trade beachwear made of fibres generated from 100 per cent recycled materials. Moreover, the company donates some of the proceeds from the sale of its products to various social and environmental projects. The bikinis, tankinis, lounge pants and maternity swimwear by designer and company founder Stefanie Krysta all reflect her ethos to provide sustainability and fairness right the way through from production to the sale of her products: "Even the server that hosts our online store is operated using green energy."

At the same time, the enterprise is committed to using only high-quality materials certified in compliance with Öko-Tex Standard 100. Even the threads, elastic and other trimmings are bought exclusively from suppliers who pay fair wages and ascribe to the principles of sustainability. The labels of each Blue Maou garment are filled with the seeds of wild flowers. The labels can simply be planted in a flower pot or anywhere outside. The design, production and quality checks are all carried out in Germany. Only the basic materials such as elastic bands, crystal beads and fabrics are produced elsewhere in Europe.
