New exhibition area, new records
With the growth of China's economic development China's textile industry has entered into a shift and structural adjustment of “new norms”.
Even the growth slowed down, it has got a huge market potential and growth momentum. A new era began in March 2015 as Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics-Spring Edition 2015 opened in a brand-new venue with a record number of exhibitors (2,637 suppliers from 24 countries) participating and closed with a huge increase of visitors. It was the highest ever attended Spring Edition with a total of more than 62,000 trade visitors from 88 countries and regions. This compared to 40,214 visitors and 1,469 exhibitors at the 2014 Spring edition. The worlds largest fairground hosted its first Messe Frankfurt fair across more than 100,000 m2. The extra space in the new fairground allowed the exhibition to roughly double. This large increase in the number, as well as the quality, of buyers justified the relocation to the new venue outlined Senior General Manager of the fair organizer Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Ms Wendy Wen: “Our main reason for moving to this new fairground was to allow easier access to the fair for domestic trade buyers from around the country, and the significant increase in the visitor figure confirms this was the case and the relocation was the right decision to make.”
Europe was once again be well represented at the fair in the Salon Europe embedded in the international hall. Around 180 suppliers of premium fabrics and accessories were housed in this area which also included the Milano Unica Pavillion from Italy. The France and Premium Wool zones maked their debut appearance at the Spring edition. The diversitiy that Asia has to offer was also be on display in country and regions pavilions from Japan, Korea, Pakistan and Taiwan, as well as the Texpocil Pavillion from India. And for the first time at an Intertextile fair, the Origin Africa Pavilion from Kenya was present.
Addressing the increased interest in sustainability in the industry, especially in China, the All About sustainability zone also appeared for the first time at the Spring Edition. In addition the fairs PH Value – previously known as the china International Knitting Trade fair – and the fashion fair CHIC took place concurrently for the first time with Intertextile Shanghai.
