The call for applications will be open until 15th March 2019.

The core idea of the program which was founded in 2016 by Professor Ulf Aminde is to create a space within which artists and designers who have fled to Germany can reconstruct or rebuild their lost portfolios and materials in order to apply at German art and design academies.

The one year program includes artistic workshops and lectures led mainly by professional artists, designers and scholars who themselves or whose families have migrated to Germany. In preparation for the annual artistic aptitude tests the *foundationClass participants can use the infrastructure of Weißensee Academy of Art, including workshops, materials, as well as support with bureaucratic hurdles.

The program has been extremely successful so far and more than 80 percent of the participants who decided to apply were successful in doing so and could register as regular students at various German art academies.
