Since 1926, Gottstein GmbH & Co. KG has been producing nonwovens felt from wool in Tyrol, Austria. Their applications range from felt slippers to yoga mats to various accessories and linings. "In our view, nonwovens set new standards in terms of efficiency, sustainability, and innovation", says Managing Director Mr. Philipp Gottstein.

Versatile Applications

In our field, nonwoven materials have primarily been established as a precursor for our felt slippers. Additionally, we have developed a brand-new accessory collection made from nonwovens. This collection includes home textiles like coasters and bench cushions, as well as business items like pencil cases and iPad covers.

Sustainability as a Driver

A significant advantage of nonwovens lies in their sustainability. The wool, which is considered "waste" in our processes, can be reused for our nonwovens. The nonwoven material itself is fully recyclable and, since it is made of 100% wool, also biodegradable. We have already conducted tests on biodegradability with excellent results. In less than two months, the nonwoven material completely decomposed in the soil.

Technological Innovations

The ongoing development and refinement of nonwoven technologies are further driving the market. Advances in nanotechnology and manufacturing technology enable the production of nonwovens with improved properties such as increased strength, higher moisture resistance, and enhanced filtration capabilities. This opens the door to new applications and markets.

Future Perspectives

The future of the nonwovens market looks promising. We expect continued growth driven by constant innovation pressure and the rising demand for sustainable products and regional production. Therefore, Gottstein GmbH is increasingly investing in research and development to explore new applications and strengthen its market position.
