Sanitized: New Laundry Hygiene Concept

The hygiene concept of Sanitized AG, a pioneer in the field of antimicrobial hygiene function and material protection, provides reliable antimicrobial protection for bed linens, towels or work clothing. Textiles with skin contact are sensitive issues in hotels, hospitals or homes for the elderly.Bed linens, towels as well as work clothing must be reliably protected against bacterial colonization. However, the bleaching agents used in laundries make the achievement of a long-lasting protective effect more difficult.

Therefore, Sanitized AG has developed a product especially for commercial laundries that can be added as needed to each washing process to guarantee optimal action against bacterial colonization during transport, storage and use. Schwob AG, the Swiss textile manufacturer and laundry operator, is convinced that using Sanitized hygiene protection is effective against mildew and bacteria, can be incorporated into the washing process without any additional expense and will withstand dryer temperatures up to 140 degrees. Stephan U. Hirt, chief executive officer of Schwob AG, confirms that the treatment does not cause yellowing and also does not impair the performance characteristics.

Economic benefits

The hygiene aspect is enhanced by tangible economic benefits. The Sanitized treatment prevents the development of aggressors such as mildew, which leads to unwanted spot formation and subsequently to material fatigue, thus extending the useful life of the textiles substantially. The Sanitized hygiene function can be built not only into the cotton and blended fabrics of bed linens but also into mattresses, carpets, curtains, terrycloth products, kitchen and table linens or work clothing. It is applied during the washing process and is renewed on a regular basis.

The five-star Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern actively uses the Sanitized hygiene function. “The well-being of our guests is our top priority. And this includes the absolute feeling of freshness, particularly when it comes to the bed linens. The Sanitized hygiene concept gives us optimal support", explained Schweizerhof director Clemens Hunziker, an experienced hotelier and recipient of the Swiss "Milestone" tourism award, adding "it is an innovation completely in keeping with the wishes of our demanding guests."
