In autumn/winter 2015/16, the return of denim to its traditional roots will ensure an abundance of dark indigo shades. At the same time, the original look is being enhanced through the use of modern sustainable dyeing techniques, ozone and laser treatment. To these can be added worn-down, washed-down and used-look finishes, in combination with classic twill structures, or new imitation or genuine knitted applications replicating the traditional denim weave. One new introduction is a lighter-quality denim, achieved using innovative spinning techniques. Stretch denim continues to be in high demand. Function and performance are achieved with the aid of appropriate treatments, anti-bacterial denim and denim mixtures, and FIR nylon yarns. The FIR yarn Emana, already known in the active-wear and underwear sectors, is now being used in denim, too, to provide a softer feel and more comfortable wear. Tavex is one of the first denim manufacturers to produce FIR denim commercially, with its Denim Therapy brand.
