Made in Green: Fristads Strengthens Transparency
By introducing the Made in Green label, Fristads demonstrates how social and environmental responsibility can be integrated into workwear.
Fristads, a leading provider of workwear, has certified some of its most popular products with the OEKO-TEX® Made in Green label. This international certification not only guarantees that the products are free from harmful chemicals but also ensures they are manufactured under sustainable and socially responsible conditions.
Fristads Sets New Standards for Sustainable Workwear
Since 1997, Fristads has collaborated with OEKO-TEX® to ensure safe and responsible production throughout its supply chain. With the Made in Green label, the company now makes this long-standing practice visible. “Our goal is to make it easier for our customers to choose sustainability,” explains Petra Öberg Gustafsson, CEO of Fristads.
The Made in Green label allows customers to trace the origins of their products. Each certified garment comes with an ID number that can be entered on the OEKO-TEX® website, providing transparency about the product’s journey, all the way back to the raw material supplier.
Combining Environmental and Social Standards
The introduction of the Made in Green label complements Fristads’ established Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). While EPDs highlight the ecological footprint of a product, Made in Green ensures that the clothing is produced under fair working conditions and with optimized chemical management.
Lisa Rosengren, Sustainability and Raw Material Manager at Fristads, emphasizes: “By combining EPDs with Made in Green, we are setting a new standard for transparency in workwear—a standard that benefits not only our customers but also the environment and the people who manufacture our products.”
Sustainability as an Industry Leader
Fristads has initially certified 20 products from its core range and plans to continuously expand the offering. Already, 98% of its catalog products are certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. With Made in Green, the company takes the next step in advancing sustainability within the industry.
