The “mtex” textile exhibition will be expanding its range of topics beyond mobile textiles in future. Now named “mtex+ – International Exhibition for Technical Textiles”, it will devote its attention to the entire range of high-tech textiles starting with the 6th edition (on 31 May – 2 June 2016). Using the slogan “Discover hightextiles+functions!”, the “mtex+” will adopt a position as a discovery exhibition for product development, process optimisation, networking and the transfer of knowledge. “Textiles equipped with additional functions are continuing to gain ground and occupy new fields of application in almost every sector.

Textiles are often lighter, easier to handle and more robust than traditional materials,” the Head of the Exhibition, Michael Kynast, explains. “It will become more and more important for product developers in particular to familiarise themselves with the latest developments in this sector, consult textile experts even during the phase of discovering ideas and draw up solutions to problems in conjunction with them. We offer a suitable platform for this!

Chemnitz is also the centre of a unique cluster involving textile production, textile machine engineering and textile research. Travelling to the heart of the internationally best networked textile region of Saxony and Thuringia will pay off in every respect.” Chemnitz Trade Fair Centre is expecting 110 exhibitors and 8,000 trade visitors from Germany and abroad to attend the newly devised “mtex+”. As announced by “mtex” project manager, André Rehn, the exhibition’s innovation prize will be presented for the second time next year. There are also plans for a user-oriented forum of experts covering health, protective, nursing care and medical textiles. An important element in the supporting programme for the “mtex+” is the 15th Chemnitz Textile Technology Conference, which is devoted to the subject of “Textile technology as the key technology of the future”. This is being held at the trade fair site for the first time; the organisers are expecting about 300 people from Germany and abroad to attend this event on 31 May and 1 June 2016.

Its organisers are the Cetex Chemnitz Textile Machine Development Association, the Institutes for Lightweight Structures and Conveyor Technology/Polymers at Chemnitz University of Technology, the Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) and the North-East German Textile and Clothing Industry Association (vti). The 6th “mtex+” will be held alongside the 4th Lima Exhibition for Lightweight Design in Chemnitz. Composites and textile-based lightweight design applications are just two of the related topics there.
