Outlast Technologies, a manufacturer of temperature-regulating phase change materials, has launched the new performance filling material known as “Universe”. Heat and moisture-regulating PCM-viscose fibres combine perfectly with the soft down. The heat and moisture regulating Outlast PCM viscose fibres comprise 7 dtex, 10mm short cut fibres and form part of the new “Universe” filling material (30% Outlast viscose, 70% down). In developing the material, a conscious decision was made to use thicker fibres with a larger diameter. “This enables us to guarantee a high loading of the phase-change materials (PCM),” explains Martin Bentz, Managing Director of Outlast Europe GmbH, Heidenheim. “The performance compared to a standard PCM viscose fibre is four times higher.” In combination with down, this product can offer optimum thermal and moisture comfort. The down displays benefits such as lightness, a bulky volume and naturalness. By contrast, the Outlast PCM viscose fibres regulate and optimise climate comfort, whilst significantly reducing moisture and perspiration.
