Fibre manufacturer smartfibre, based in Rudolstadt/Thuringia, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The company has been developing and marketing innovative high-tech fibres since 2005.

smartfibre’s main area of expertise lies in equipping natural Lyocell fibres with natural organic and inorganic additives. The SeaCell fibres with algae and the smartcel sensitive fibres with zinc offer exceptional protective care properties for the skin. These fibres are already being used in the blankets, pillows, mattresses, bed linen, sheets, towels, bathrobes, sleeping bags and bath mats of many suppliers.

At the Heimtextil trade fair smartfibre presented the specialist retail trade with brochures designed specifically for the home textiles market, shedding light on the benefits SeaCell and smartcel sensitive can bring in the home textiles environment. The brochures explain in considerable detail why the algae in SeaCell revitalise the skin like creams and how the zinc oxide in smartcel sensitive can provide protection against damaging UV rays. In addition, the fibre reduces unpleasant odours.

Since the end of 2011 Lenzing AG, the world market leader in industrially produced cellulose fibres, has been manufacturing the fibre range exclusively for smartfibre. smartfibre AG’s fibre technologies have already received several awards, including the “German Innovation Prize” in 2010.
