Exhibition highlights
Dutch carpet weaver Robusta Carpets, which originally specialised in natural, pure Sisal flooring, unveiled at this year`s Domotex in Hanover a carpet made solely from waste products. The upper material consists, among others, of recycled garments, ropes and fishing nets. The latex backing is completely free from styrene and butadiene.
Italian spinning mill Neofil Terni S.r.l. displayed NAB (Neofil AntiBacterial), a yarn with antibacterial properties. NAB is claimed to kill off almost all micro-organisms, preventing unpleasant odours. NAB flooring is therefore ideal for use both in health and social institutions.
The Swiss company Lico revealed its new Texclick needle punched nonwoven flooring. The click system carpet tiles are also offered with a waterproof plastic backing, making it possible to wash the floor generously with water. The three millimetre needle punched nonwoven surface is low on emissions and improves ambient air quality.
Edel Taijt from Genemulden/Holland presented the “Majestic” collection, the first carpet made exclusively from old plastic bottles. Both the yarns on the upper side and the backing consist solely of recycled PET bottles.
