The annual edition of the CHT Sustainability Report, for the period January to December 2019, is available now.
As an internationally positioned company, the CHT Group is one of the leading suppliers of speciality chemicals. The company supplies suitable chemical products for the most diverse applications and industries.
Open and transparent communication with all stakeholders, especially with customers, has traditionally been important to the Group of companies. First and foremost this is illustrated by the company’s comprehensive sustainability reporting.
- The annual edition of the CHT Sustainability Report, for the period January to December 2019, is now available. In the subsequent Sustainability Report, the CHT Group documents on more than 120 pages all the activities with which it fulfilled its responsibility as a future-oriented and sustainable company in 2019.
- The current report complies with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in accordance with the core option.
- The focus here is on human resources development, energy and water consumption as well as company-wide emissions and waste behaviour.
Particularly noteworthy here is the group-wide reduction in specific resource consumption in the areas under review. In relation to the volume produced, for example, the following key figures show the reduction of environmental impacts:
- -13 percent specific water consumption
- -11 percent specific waste volume
- -8 percent direct CO2 emission (Scope 1)
It is also noteworthy that 67 percent of the CHT Group’s 2019 turnover was generated with sustainable products. For this purpose 91 percent of the strategic raw material volume was purchased from suppliers that are classified as sustainable.
The core of the report: The SDGs
The core of the report are the current working topics and prospects, which present CHT’s commitment to sustainability and its innovative strength. They vividly document the efforts of the Group of companies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs).
CHT considers eleven of the SDGs to be particularly relevant for the future of the Group of companies. For this reason, the recently revised global corporate strategy is directly geared to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
The Sustainability Report 2019 also deals with the following successful and partly award-winning core projects and provides information on their status:
- Reduced use of critical raw materials
- International sustainability valuation of suppliers
- Expansion of the sustainable core range
- Pioneer in product certification
Ecovadis certification: Silver Medal for Corporate Social Responsibility
Within the framework of its membership in the UN-Global Compact Initiative, the CHT Group also complies with the principle “Communication on Process”. Altogether the Sustainability Report 2019 illustrates the core strategy of the CHT Group to consequently continue on the way as a sustainable partner and as a leading reference for sustainable chemical solutions until 2025.
