FiberQ stabilises recycled denim
Recycled raw materials challenge shade control and efficiency in denim spinning. Orta in Türkiye uses Uster FiberQ to stabilise blends, cut trial runs and waste, and support productivity.
Data platform for raw material utilisation
Denim producer Orta Anadolu Ticaret ve Sanayi ??letmesi T.A.?. (Orta) uses Uster FiberQ as part of the Uster 360Q solution to gain control over its raw material utilisation. For the mill in Kayseri, Türkiye, with 66,000 spindles and a daily output of 55,000 kg, raw materials represent a major share of total costs. This underlines the importance of systematic inventory and blend management for the mill.
Uster 360Q combines instruments, data-enabled software and textile expertise on a single platform. Within this framework, FiberQ functions as a raw material management system that monitors cotton stocks and collects all relevant data centrally. The result is enhanced transparency in warehouse inventories and a better balanced utilisation of raw materials, which supports consistent quality and process stability across all production stages.
For Orta, which already works with regenerative and organic cotton, recycled fibres, closed-loop manufacturing and water-reducing technology, FiberQ supports a move towards more controlled and data-driven decision making.
Shade control for recycled yarns
Orta reports that FiberQ introduces a systematic approach to cotton blend preparation. From initial blend set up through to regular monitoring of average blend quality values, all critical parameters can be controlled. According to Spinning Group Manager Orhan Herdem, this makes decision making more measurable and predictable.
The system has reduced variations between consecutive blends, particularly in micronaire and colour. As a result, the risk of shade variation (barré) in downstream processes has been significantly lowered, which is especially relevant for sensitive constructions such as gabardine. Blend transitions are now planned within defined quality limits, improving stock utilisation while strengthening quality consistency and process stability.
In practical terms, Orta saves time and waste because FiberQ helps prevent shade variation issues in the warping process that previously required additional trial runs. Unnecessary trials have been reduced, waste rates have decreased and the overall process flow has become more stable. These effects support higher production efficiency and cost control, including when recycled yarns are involved.
At ITM 2026 in Istanbul, Uster experts present Uster 360Q and FiberQ in Hall 7, Booth 714B, offering visitors touch screen access to the 360Q platform and Uster Statistics.
