The roots of Wendler Interlining go back to the founding of a contract finishing company in 1843. Since then, the company has developed into a globally active company with its own production facilities and sales offices in Germany, China, Hongkong, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Italy. the specialist for textile interlining fabrics in shirts, blouses and all other clothing segments and has always been committed to using natural resources sustainably and responsibly.

Certified “Green Factory” in Vietnam

In 2020, the company opened a “Green Factory” in Vietnam. This production facility, which is certified according to the LEED Gold standard, emphasizes sustainable construction and production environments and, as of 2020, is one of only 19 LEED-certified textile factories in Vietnam. In the “Green Factory” in Vietnam, all production stages – bleaching, dyeing, finishing and coating – are carried out according to sophisticated ecological sustainability concepts.

Energy is generated by utilising biomass from waste of rice mills and the furniture industry. Heat recovery systems are used at the boiler, bleaching systems and stenters, with enhanced insulation on all machines and pipelines. The drying temperature after bleaching as well as the speed and exhaust air volume at the stenter are electronically controlled to achieve maximum efficiency. The use of chemicals is minimized by electronic dosing systems, and water consumption is reduced by counterflow processes. The wastewater is recycled in numerous processes until it reaches drinking water quality for being reused in production. And collected rainwater is used to irrigate the green areas. In addition, free charging stations for electric motorcycles are available to employees.

Sustainable locations, sustainable products

Sustainable measures are also continuously being considered and implemented at the other locations. In Reutlingen, Wendler Interlining relies on regional green electricity from hydropower and solar energy as well as the use of electromobility. In Italy, solar energy is used in combination with a brine-water heat pump.

The concept of sustainability has long been part of the product range. The range includes interlining made from organic cotton and recycled polyester. Relevant certifications such as GOTS, OCS and GRS are available. In addition, Wendler Interlining is a member of the Better Cotton initiative. The interlining fabrics can be produced based on these certificates as required.
