Sandler nonwovens are used in over 50 car models worldwide, providing a quiet, pleasant drive as interior and exterior absorbers, carrier materials for moulded parts and nonwovens for seat upholstery.

Lightweight, high-performance absorber nonwovens provide excellent sound absorption at low product thickness-ideal for narrow installation spaces, e.g. in door side panels, dashboard or boot. Nonwovens for exterior applications in wheel house liners, bumpers, or underbody shields feature hydrophobic and oleophobic properties, which they retain throughout their operating life-on both surface and edges. They are available in white or black for visible applications.

Exploring the opportunities of combining textile and polymer technology, Sandler also develops composite materials for lightweight construction in transportation. New concepts for LWRT (lightweight reinforced thermoplastics) parts include composites made of nonwovens and carbon- or glass-fibre reinforced plastic. Compact nonwovens are equipped with different cover layers using a thermal pressing process. In these sandwich structures, the nonwoven serves as a core layer, enabling the transfer of bending forces between the two cover layers. These composites demonstrate how extremely light materials can offer a high degree of stability.

The trend towards electromobility is currently creating intriguing new product requirements with regard to sound and heat insulation in vehicles, but also future applications for nonwovens in general. Together with partners along the supply chain, Sandler will accompany this development with competence in nonwovens.
