The cotton industry can show some impressive figures: 24.1 million tonnes of this biodegradable fibre were produced worldwide in 2020/21 and more than 150 million people are involved in the business. More than two thirds of producers work in developing countries. The cotton industry also carries out consistent and successful research, which makes cotton an interesting product for technically demanding processes.

From cotton farming to processing
