Neues Verfahren zur Nutzung des Klimagases als Rohstoff für Carbon

Carbonfasern sind als Verstärkungsmaterial in Kompositwerkstoffen für den Leichtbau von hohem Interesse und werden bisher hauptsächlich und in einem kostenintensiven Verfahren auf Basis von Erdöl erzeugt. Wissenschaftler an der George Washington University in den USA arbeiten an einer Alternative dazu. Mit Hilfe einer Elektrolysereaktion können Carbonfasern aus dem Klimagas Kohlendioxid als Rohstoffquelle gewonnen werden.
