The cotton industry can show some impressive figures: 24.1 million tonnes of this biodegradable fibre were produced worldwide in 2020/21 and more than 150 million people are involved in the business. More than two thirds of producers work in developing countries. The cotton industry also carries out consistent and successful research, which makes cotton an interesting product for technically demanding processes.

From cotton farming to processing

Reports on the development in the main growing and processing countries as well as classifying global analyses provide the reader with a comprehensive insight into the most important segments of the cotton supply chain. Statistics on fibre production, yields, trade, price development and the further processing of the raw material in downstream production stages cover both the current period and the last few years.

Germany and Europe

Further reports analyse the cotton and textile industries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. These clearly demonstrate the current and structural developments within the textile and clothing industry. This provides the ideal complement to the overall picture, with a view to other segments of the cotton supply chain through to the end consumer in Europe.

In addition, the annual report contains an overview of the diverse activities of the Bremen Cotton Exchange in the past year, which underlines its importance in the global cotton industry network.

Effects of the corona pandemic

The reference work, which is highly valued in the professional world, contains more than 100 pages of facts and background information on the global cotton market – perfectly transparent and clearly presented using tables, graphics and images. This edition focuses especially on the effects of the global corona pandemic on the entire cotton supply chain.

The annual report is free of charge for members of the Cotton Exchange and for the press. A printed version can be obtained from the Cotton Exchange. Orders are accepted by email at info@baumwollboerse.de or in the Cotton Shop.
