Three decades of sourcing and dialogue

From 14 to 16 July 2026, Munich Fabric Start will celebrate its 30th anniversary and open the Autumn.Winter 27/28 season at the MOC in Munich. Since 1996, the trade fair with its integrated show-in-shows Bluezone, Keyhouse and The source has established itself as a central one-stop sourcing platform for the European fashion and textile industry. Today, Munich Fabric Start Exhibitions GmbH is regarded as one of the leading European organisers of fairs for textiles, accessories, textile finishing and sourcing.

Twice a year, international fabric and accessory manufacturers present their latest colour and material trends in Munich. In parallel, Munich Fabric Start positions itself as a knowledge and dialogue hub along the entire textile value chain. The anniversary project "30 Years. 30 Stories." builds on this role. Over several weeks, interviews, video statements, photo series, quotes and curated content will be published via the website, social media, newsletters and the fair's own platforms. The focus is on personal perspectives from long-standing exhibitors, visitors, partners and creatives, alongside topics such as sustainability, innovation, craftsmanship, digitalisation and future materials.

New brand architecture and visitor focus

In its anniversary year, Munich Fabric Start is implementing a new, contemporary brand architecture. The aim is to bring existing formats, subbrands and communication channels together under a strong umbrella brand, thereby strengthening the international perception and communicative reach of the platform. At the centre is a concise, reduced and flexible visual identity that deliberately leaves space for content, innovation and creative staging.

This realignment is reflected in more open stand layouts and a reduced stand and hall design. Digital formats such as the website, newsletters and the mfs app will be relaunched in the coming months and will mirror the new, modern aesthetic in all digital channels. The concept and creative work are being developed in cooperation with the Munich-based agency Mayolove, a full-service studio specialised in Brand development, User experience, User interface design, Animation and Film.

At the same time, the trade fair is stepping up its visitor management activities. Internationalisation through targeted visitor acquisition in other European countries, the strengthening of community building and more focused visitor communication, for example through a new newsletter concept, are central elements of this strategy.

Earlier date and "Taste" as guiding theme

By moving its summer date forward to 14 to 16 July 2026, Munich Fabric Start is sending a clear signal in the European trade fair landscape. The international textile fair strengthens Munich as a location and offers visitors and exhibitors an earlier and more efficient start to the Autumn.Winter 27/28 sourcing season.

The trend leitmotif for Autumn.Winter 27/28 is "Taste". In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, personal taste is gaining new relevance. It is described as an expression of individuality, attitude and personality, and as something profoundly human that cannot be reproduced. The focus is less on judging good or bad taste and more on encouraging everyone to develop their own taste, live it and at the same time respect the diversity of other perspectives.

"Taste" thus stands for authenticity, empathy and cultural openness, as well as for a desire for more humanity in a technologised environment. The next dates announced by the organiser are Munich Fabric Start with The source, Bluezone and Keyhouse from 14 to 16 July 2026 and View premium selection on 8 and 9 September 2026.
