RFID tunnel boosts supply chain
South Korean apparel manufacturer ShinWon is rolling out its AI-powered RFID tunnel system globally, targeting zero packaging errors and establishing end-to-end traceability from raw materials to finished garment distribution.
Addressing industry challenges
In fashion manufacturing, characterised by high-mix, low-volume production and complex global supply chains, inventory visibility and logistics efficiency remain persistent challenges. Traditional barcode-based systems have shown limitations due to reliance on manual labour and delayed real-time data updates. ShinWon Corporation has developed a proprietary solution: an RFID Tunnel System now being expanded to all global subsidiaries to establish a new industry standard for end-to-end transparency.
AI-powered real-time verification
The system automatically verifies product quantities as items pass through a tunnel equipped with high-performance RFID readers. Integrated with ShinWon's Manufacturing Execution System (MES), it generates accurate packing lists whilst AI automation recognises packaging information and cross-checks tag data in real time.
Proven efficiency gains in Indonesia
At PT Fashion Stitch Joshua in Indonesia, inspection efficiency has improved by approximately 32 percent. The facility processes around 1,740 cartons daily—equivalent to roughly 30,000 garments—with capacity for up to 2,500 cartons during multi-line inspections. A reduced tunnel length from five metres to 3.2 metres has improved space utilisation by over 30 percent, enabling additional lines within the same footprint.
Zero Claim objective and full traceability
ShinWon plans to complete the global rollout by Q1 2026, aiming for Zero Claim status through data-driven operational excellence. The company is integrating RFID and UPC technologies to establish comprehensive E2E traceability spanning raw cotton and fabric production through to garment manufacturing and global distribution. A blockchain-based platform monitors ethical compliance among supply partners.
Extended digital transformation
Beyond logistics, ShinWon is advancing AI-driven predictive production management and sustainable logistics optimisation. The company is also applying generative AI to design processes and has developed AI-agent-based interactive VR showrooms, extending its digital transformation across the apparel manufacturing value chain.
