Innovative wheelchair blanket for people with restricted mobility

A weatherproof wheelchair cover that not only defies the weather, but is also easy to handle – that was Dorothea Schwarz’s idea, founder of the company FarbenFreude.

“Rolling Buttons”, the name of these functional products, are now being made in Suderburg, Germany, in high-quality manual work, which are also suitable for handbikes and e-scooters. Waterproof and breathable membrane laminates from Trans-Textil are used.

The well thought-out design focuses on the everyday life of people with restricted mobility. The blankets should keep you warm and dry and, above all, should be light and easy to handle. For this purpose, Dorothea Schwarz has developed a sophisticated wrapping technique and locking system that can also be operated with one hand. Flexibility is the order of the day with the individually tailored blankets: there are versions that are firmly attached to the wheelchair and those that can be attached while sitting without slipping.

All components are produced in Europe. Ms. Schwarz paid particular attention to the most robust materials possible, which offer a high level of water and wind resistance, but are also breathable. In her search for suitable materials, she found what she was looking for at Trans-Textil and opted for functional 2- and 3-layer membrane laminates that are certified according to the latest criteria of the Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex.
