Leading companies from all sectors of the textile industry will be represented at ITMA 2023. More than 1,600 exhibitors from 44 countries and over 100,000 visitors are expected. The exhibition area is 200,000 sqm and has been fully booked since February.

There will be two industry forums where renowned experts will talk about current challenges and show ways in which the textile industry can become more sustainable through the use of innovative technologies.

The “Nonwovens Forum” will be opened by a keynote address from Dr. Bryan Haynes, technical director for global nonwovens at Kimberly-Clark Corporation. The title of his presentation is "Ready Now Nonwoven Solutions for the Global Plastics Crisis." This will be followed by two sessions of exhibitor presentations. A panel discussion on “Sustainable Innovation and Digital Technology in the Nonwoven Industry” will conclude the forum.

Speakers at the “Textile Colourants and Chemicals Forum” will be Prasad Pant, director of Southeast Asia at the ZDHC Foundation, and Sophie Mather, co-founder and executive director of The Microfibre Consortium. They will discuss key findings from a joint project on fiber fragmentation in wastewater, which was launched because microfibers have been identified as an environmental risk. The highlight of the forum will be the subsequent panel discussion on “Unlocking the Decarbonization Opportunity.”

What will be going on?

There will be a total of twelve halls at ITMA, divided into 20 different chappters. The former "R&I Pavilion" will be called “Research & Innovation Lab” in 2023. Here, the latest developments from research and educational institutions as well as industry will be presented. The Lab aims to contribute to international networking in order to advance forward-looking projects.

A new part of this is the “Start-Up Valley”, which will focus on 16 companies that are at an early stage of development and offer new, groundbreaking solutions and technologies to promote and inspire innovation in the textile, apparel and fashion industry.

Of course, there will again be an awards ceremony. The “Sustainable Innovation Award” will be presented in the categories “Industry Excellence” and “Research and Innovation”. This recognizes efforts along the entire value chain of the textile industry that are aimed at developing new and sustainable products. It is also intended to promote outstanding research work in the industry.
