Embroidery trends Summer 2020

The Collection Spring/Summer 2020 by Gunold will offer a lot of contrasts with very colourful, bright colours and natural and subtle tones.

Cut-Outs

Cut-Outs as well as distorted and decomposed looks are very trendy. Transparent materials are layered and applied. Embroidery structures may be irregular and imperfect.

Honeycomb structures will be used quite often – and of course these can also be embroidered.

Bringing raised elements and effectful 3D effects to a garment is key. Playing with stitch directions adds dimension and depth.

Black and silver

Even in a summer collection, there will be used a lot of black and silver elements, sometimes flashed with bright colours, yet some neon effects like a bright pink or a faded green. Attractive and exceptional effect threads are perfect to express the season’s message.

The 80s and 90s

Playing with plastic elements and fabrics, iridescent colours and bright, glittery materials and threads – a nice reminiscence of the 80s and 90s feelings.

Simple geometric shapes are used both in prints and embroideries. Using attractive embroidery stitch types and techniques helps to reduce stitches, offering attractive surface design at the same time.
