Creation of a local and flexible production cell
In the Microfactory process chain, the digital cutting solutions of the Zünd Systemtechnik company are responsible for carrying out the efficient cutting process. “One of the great advantages of our cutters is that they are very easy to integrate into an existing workflow”, says Rolf Köppel, Segment Manager Textile at Zünd. “Digitized cutting with our cutters enables the creation of a local and flexible production cell. This makes it more attractive for companies to invest in their own production, instead of outsourcing production abroad.”
A high degree of individualization
One major strength of the Microfactory concept lies in its ability to produce even small quantities of orders economically and with a high degree of individualization – thanks to digital production. This means that manufacturers can react very quickly to seasonal fluctuations in demand. However, it's also a special challenge for the process to individualize each product, and in extreme cases, the systems involved have to cope with different requirements for each and every manufactured product.
The cutting systems identify the pieces on the cutter table by means of the QR codes created during the design process with Vidya. What was printed and how are the cutting lines applied? The relevant cutting files are automatically loaded into the cutter and exactly cut out along the defined lines. The next step is the joining of the fabric pieces to form a garment.
